Employee compensation is the combination of wages and benefits paid to each employee in exchange for their work.

Compensation Philosophy
The primary objective of NJIT’s compensation philosophy is to attract, retain and motivate a qualified and diverse workforce to support NJIT’s mission.
To this end, NJIT’s compensation program
1. Is competitive within relevant markets
2. Is Merit-based
3.Rewards competence and collaboration
It is the responsibility of Human Resources to administer the compensation program in a fair, equitable and consistent manner in compliance with State and Federal wage and hour laws, collective bargaining unit agreements, and university policies.
Changes to compensation are typical when a manager would like to verify compensation is appropriate for a person based on training, experience and responsibilities compared to similar positions internal and external to NJIT. Our HR team is here to review and ensure the changes are compliant and fall within the appropriate guidelines to our markets.
