The university recognizes the importance of investing in Tuition Remission for its employees. To this end, NJIT’s tuition remission policy provides eligible employees and their dependent child(ren) with the opportunity to advance their education, and provides employees with a means to achieve, maintain or enhance existing professional skills. The policy summarizes who may participate, what programs qualify for reimbursement, and how to apply for tuition remission assistance.
Highlights:
Employees are eligible after the employee has been employed by NJIT for one (1) year, unless stated otherwise in your bargaining unit agreement.
Dependent children, under age 23, of employees are eligible as of the employee’s date of hire.
Eligible full time employees may enroll in up to two (2) courses, and eligible Part-time employees may enroll in one (1) course, per semester for up to three semesters a year.
Employees may enroll for a degree program at NJIT or at another accredited college or university.
Eligible Dependent children may only receive tuition remission for Undergraduate courses taken at NJIT. They must meet NJIT’s academic admissions requirements and follow registration procedures. Dependents must be registered for no fewer than 12 credits, but no more than 19 credits per semester.
Employees and Dependents participating in the Tuition Remission Program must receive a grade of C or better, or they will be required to reimburse NJIT for tuition remission received.
Employees or Dependents that withdraw from a course after the withdrawal date will be required to reimburse NJIT for the applicable tuition remission received.
