The compressed work week is a piloted program to allow for Friday's off during this slower time of year. It will begin on May 22nd and end on August 19th for eligibly employees. Offices will be open from 8:30 to 5pm and employees are permitted a 30 minute lunch break. Vice Presidents and Deans have discretion to modify schedules for certain positions to ensure student services, essential education, research, safety and physical plant functions remain operational. This will include the need for certain positions to work on Friday to provide these services with the intent that they be able to substitute a different day off within their compressed schedule.
Does the schedule apply to holiday weeks (Memorial Day, Juneteenth and July 4th)?
No, there are no additional days off during the holiday weeks. We return to summer hours of 9-4pm during those weeks.
How do I submit my time when taking PTO?
Entering your time off during this condensed schedule will vary dependent on if your standard schedule is 35 hours, 37.5 hours or 40 hours per week.
For employees that work 35 hours per week, please submit 8.75 hours for vacation or sick time, if you are using a personal day, administrative day or floating holiday, continue to use 7 hours.
More details will be forthcoming for employees with 37.5 and 40 hours per week schedules.
Please note that during holiday weeks, any time off should be entered at it's regular increments.
The University reserves the right to change, modify or cancel the Summer Fridays Compressed Work Week schedule at any time subject to negotiated agreements with applicable collective bargaining units
