When a supervisor has been notified of an employee's resignation, they should immediately notify Human Resources to ensure an effective off-boarding process. The supervisor should submit this information through HR Nexus.
Reasons for separation include:
Voluntary resignation
Retirement
Assignment end
Deceased

Involuntary separations happen when NJIT makes the decision to terminate employment Reasons may include, but are not limited to, layoff, non-reappointment or misconduct. Involuntary separations should be discussed prior with the Employee and Labor Relations team before any action is taken.
Separating Employees Checklist
The supervisor should advise the separating employee of all university property to be returned on the last day of employment. These items may include, but are not limited to:
Office and desk keys
Office equipment including computers/laptops
Uniforms
University ID card
University parking tag
Cell phone
